Description
Summary:This research examined how gender shapes the incentive or is an obstacle for people to participate in Adult Education Programs. The survey was conducted by questionnaire and the sample were 60 students from SCS (Second Chance Schools) in Alexandroupolis and Orestiada. The main conclusions of the survey were that the main reasons for the participation of people in Adult Education programs is the pursuit of a better pay and the pursuit of a better place to work. Therefore, it was found that the theory of achievement motivates people to participate in Adult Education programs. Barriers to participation in Adult Education programs are mainly family responsibilities while female participation is prevented mainly by their home environment. Women are motivated to a higher degree of involvement in Adult Education programs from the theory of necessity in relation to men (interest in learning, pursuing personal growth), and from the theory of achievement (professionalisation).
