Περίληψη: Genre is now a central concept in the research and teaching of multilingual writing, but it is a concept that has developed substantially--both theoretically and pedagogically--over the past few decades. This article traces genre's developing prominence specifically within the first 60 years of "TESOL Quarterly," offering a window into its evolving role in our conceptions of writing and its current significance for the research and teaching of multilingual writing.
