The subject of this doctoral thesis is the cultural, ethical and technological convergence between the Maker movement (a philosophy of distributed manufacturing) and artificial intelligence (AI). The aim is to evaluate its manifestation and contribution to communication, teaching, learning, art and design. It reviews their origins, tools, internal tensions and their relationship with educational communities and STEAM programmes, as well as access limitations due to centralised corporate structures. Experiments with text-to-image and 3D object tools (such as Firefly, Midjourney, DALL·E, Stable Diffusion, Shap-E) show that AI reproduces morphology but fails to interpret symbolic intention and context, generating meaningless representations. The research concludes that the convergence between the Maker movement and AI must prioritise the human condition and proposes interdisciplinary research, open tools, distributed and embodied AI, data transparency, and public policies for sustainability and inclusion.
