Description: In this book, we presented a holistic picture of sketch-based interactions from two-dimensional sketching in physical and digital ink to sketch interactions in the three-dimensions (3D) domain, presenting the technologies and algorithms needed to tackle the interpretation and use of sketches as well as discussing open issues and limitations of existing techniques. We started the book by noting that there are different types of sketching styles that are used throughout the design process, starting with simple, fast concept sketches which serve for design exploration and ideation, to more detailed technical drawings. We note that drawings are used as a means of communication between clients, designers, and peers and that creating three-dimensional prototypes rapidly and efficiently are advantageous and necessary to idea exploration, giving different application examples and scenarios in Chapter 9.
