| Περιγραφή: | The purpose of the article is to find out, based on S. Efremov's memoirs, the troubles, curiosities, and sorrows in the work of the publishing house "Vik", especially in the process of preparing the poetry anthology "Vik" and then a three-volume collection of Ukrainian literature. Efremov's memoirs "On the Days of Yore (Memoirs)" reveal the author's vision of the history of the creation and evolution of one of the first national publishing houses in post-russian Ukraine, which later became known as "Vik", as discussed in the previous publication. The troubles, curiosities, and annoyances in the publishing house work were left out of the book. However, they are of some interest to the history of publishing. In particular, the "Vik" representatives were hampered by graphomans whose works had little to do with poetry, but who demanded that their "poems" be published and even offered money for it. Other petty claims got on the nerves of the young employees of the publishing house. The author tells us more about the incident with Olena Pchilka and her daughter. Olena Pchilka in a conversation with О. Lototskyi forbade the disclosure of her and her daughter's pseudonyms in the poetry anthology. The author of the memoirs thought that such claims were unfounded since the Kosachs' pseudonyms had long been revealed. S. Efremov believed that Olena Pchilka's demand was an incomprehensible whim that should not be satisfied. The arguments were convincing, and society mostly agreed with the author of the memoirs. Some disagreements among the publishing house staff arose during the preparation of the prose part of the anthology "Vik” (“Age"). S. Efremov insisted that the works of Ukrainian modernists, in particular O. Kobylianska, should not be published there. The author's friends believed that it was not necessary to irritate people and, therefore, it was necessary to give the modernists a place in the collection. The “Vik” publishing house, with the direct involvement of the author of "On the Days of Yore (Memoirs)", became the leading publishing house in Ukraine and operated until it was banned by the Bolsheviks in 1919. Мета статті – з’ясувати на матеріалах спогадів С. Єфремова неприємності, курйози та прикрощі в роботі видавництва «Вік», особливо в процесі підготовки поетичної антології «Вік», а потім тритомної збірки української літератури. Мемуари С. Єфремова «Про дні минулі (спогади)» розкривають рецепцію бачення цим автором історії створення й еволюції одного з перших в підросійській Україні національного видавництва, яке згодом стало називатися «Вік», про що йшлося в попередній публікації. Неприємності, курйози та прикрощі в роботі видавництва лишилися поза увагою в ній. Проте вони представляють певний інтерес для історії видавничої справи. Зокрема, перешкодою для «віковиків» стали графомани, твори яких мали досить далеке відношення до поезії, але вони вимагали надрукувати їхні «вірші» і навіть пропонували за це гроші. Траплялися й інші дріб’язкові претензії, які псували нерви молодим працівникам видавництва. Про інцидент з Оленою Пчілкою та її донькою автор розповів докладніше. Олена Пчілка в розмові з О. Лотоцьким заборонила в поетичній антології розкривати псевдоніми її та доньки. Автору мемуарів видалися такі претензії необґрунтованими, оскільки псевдоніми Косачів були давно вже розкриті. С. Єфремов вважав, що вимога Олени Пчілки – це незрозуміла примха, яку не треба задовольняти. Аргументи були переконливими й товариство більшістю пристало на думку автора спогадів. Окремі розбіжності серед колективу видавництва виникли під час підготовки прозової частини антології «Вік». С. Єфремов наполіг, щоб там не друкували творів українських модерністів, зокрема О. Кобилянської. Товариші автора спогадів вважали, що не треба дратувати людей, а тому варто відвести модерністам місце в збірнику. Видавництво «Вік» за безпосередньої участі автора книги «Про дні минулі (спогади)» стало провідним в Україні й функціонувало до заборони більшовиками у 1919 році. |
