Using secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) we have investigated the concentration vs. depthprofile of Al, thermally diffused into 3 mol% yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (3Y-TZP). The bulkdiffusion and grain boundary diffusion coefficients (DT and DGB, respectively) in the temperature range of1523-1823 K have been obtained for Al in 3Y-TZP. The experimental results can be well represented by theexpressions: where δ is the grain-boundary width and s is the segregation factor. |
