Description: The use of drones has significantly increased in recent years, particularly in sectors such as precision agriculture, surveillance, security, and emergency response. This growth has highlighted the need to develop dedicated applications that enhance human-drone interaction, thereby improving control and the specialization of drone pilots. The main objective of this project is to develop a system capable of displaying waypoints using augmented reality techniques, evolving from a basic 2D representation in Python to a fully integrated 3D environment developed in Unity. The resulting application is compatible with both simulators such as Mission Planner and real drones. Various software and hardware tools have been used throughout the development. On the software side, Python and C# were employed alongside libraries and frameworks such as OpenCV, OpenGL, and Pymavlink. On the hardware side, different camera types (analog and digital) and electronic components were used to enable control of a real drone. The development process was structured into iterative versions. Initial versions focused on a 2D environment in Python, where rings represented waypoints, helping to define their spatial perspective. Later stages transitioned to Unity, where the final open-source 3D application was built, offering a more immersive and functional user experience. This work contributes to the Drone Engineering Ecosystem (DEE), providing an augmented reality module that can be reused and extended in future developments. As future work, improvements to system performance are proposed, as well as the addition of new features such as virtual object integration or advanced obstacle simulation, aiming to enrich the training and experience of drone operators.
