| Περιγραφή: | Development of large cities is closely related to the formation of settlement systems of various scales with cities functioning as their centres. Agglomeration as the closest to them territorial system is defined as a large city and an aggregate of other urban and rural settlements located within the 1.5-2-hour travel distance from this city and united by the regular (daily) social, labour, cultural-everyday service and recreation links and thejointly-used territories, transportation and engineering infrastructures. Parameters of agglomerations are defined on the basis of an optimized superposition of the transportation isochrones, the boundaries of administrative-territorial (municipal) districts and a 50-km (radius) territorial equivalent. Agglomeration as a socio-territorial entity should be delimitated by the physical boundaries because in terms of its socio-functional pattern it is much more integral than any other territorial vital system including cities that are "disintegrated" by commuting migrations. Preparation of territorial planning schemes of urban agglomerations in the course of drawing up the master plans of large cities should be imposed as an obligatory requirement which could become a precedent to develop the urban objects that are unique for the home practice and that simultaneously represent a combination of socio-territorial (a zone to integrate "daily" cycles of social, labour, cultural-everyday service links of population), spatial planning (a zone of interrelated organized group of cities with jointly-developed environment) and administrative-territorial (a zone of thejoint urban and legal status and boundaries) entities in the aggregate. |
