Description: The aim of the article is to make an overview of the study of archaeological monuments of the Tobolsk Irtysh Region and create a brief description of archaeological materials that were obtained. The basic method of work is a description of archaeological sites through their classification. The results of the work provided a brief overview of the archaeological research of monuments of Russian population of the Tobolsk town and its surroundings. There the first settlers of the Urals were at the beginning of the formation of a new life support culture, which later developed actively enough. Initially, there were Cossacks, who lived for a short time in the capital of the Siberian Khaganate. There are archaeological materials testifying it. Later the fort was built, which gave rise to the town of Tobolsk. The fort was not found during archaeological excavations. Soon Tobolsk became the administrative and economic center. A large number of archaeological objects have been found in Tobolsk. In the vicinity of Tobolsk rural settlements were created which were studied by archaeologists. Archaeological material was obtained during the excavation of two rural monasteries and several villages. Conclusion: On the territory of the Tobolsk Irtysh Region there are archaeological sites, the study of which provides valuable information about the Russian population in the XVI-XIX centuries.
