Description: Social entrepreneurship can be defined as the convergence of entrepreneurial practices originating from the business realm and values grounded in social responsibility and sustainable development principles. It emphasizes entrepreneurial endeavors aimed at addressing specific societal challenges while concurrently generating discernible social as well as economic value. Social entrepreneurship in Croatia remains nascent and social entrepreneurs encounter a multitude of challenges that impede their operational efficacy. Drawing from conducted empirical research, this paper intends to delineate the primary constraints hindering further development of social entrepreneurship in Croatia. Additionally, it seeks to proffer pivotal recommendations concerning further initiatives activities and strategic measures at both the local and regional level. Particular focus in the paper will be given to the relevance and contribution of social entrepreneurship to regional development based on recognised best practice examples of the developmet of social entrepreneurhsip in EU regions.
