| Description: |
Atrophic gastritis is a precancerous lesion frequently associated with active Helicobacter pylori infection, representing a major risk factor for gastric cancer. The present controlled and longitudinal study evaluated the efficacy of ozone hyperbaric autohemotherapy (AHT-O₃) as an adjuvant treatment. The group of 60 patients was divided into two equal groups: standard treatment and standard treatment + AHT-O₃. At 12 months, the H. pylori eradication rate was 96% in the AHT-O₃ group, compared to 73% in the control group. Also, ozone-treated patients showed a decrease in malondialdehyde (from 4.5 to 2.2 nmol/ml) and an increase in SOD (from 150 to 210 U/ml). Immunologically, the proportion of T helper lymphocytes increased by 14%, and mucosal inflammation was reduced. Endoscopically, 47% of ozone-treated patients showed normalization of the gastric mucosa. The therapy was well tolerated, without adverse reactions. The results support the integration of ozone therapy into the complex management of HP-positive atrophic gastritis, especially in cases resistant to standard treatment. |
