| Description: | The article raises the issues of the relevance of the study of ethnic identity as a condition for the preservation of national community; it indicates the insufficiency of a one-dimensional strategy for the study of the phenomenon and emphasizes the necessity of taking into account the size of the community in studying this topic. The author or the research centers on the generational mechanism of continuity of value orientations as a behavioral component of ethnic identity and presents the results of an empirical study of the value orientations of the young, parental, and ancestral generations. The study also notes the disorder of the continuity mechanism and the necessity of studying ethnic identity as a manifestation of collective memory and generational continuity. В статье ставится проблема актуальности исследования этнической идентичности как условия сохранения национальной общности. Указывается недостаточность одномерной стратегии исследования феномена. Подчеркивается необходимость учета численности общности при исследовании. Акцентируется внимание на поколенном механизме преемственности ценностных ориентаций как поведенческом компоненте этнической идентичности. Приводятся результаты эмпирического исследования ценностных ориентаций молодого, родительского и прародительского поколений. Констатируется нарушение механизма преемственности. Отмечается необходимость исследования этнической идентичности как проявления коллективной памяти и поколенной преемственности.
