| Description: | Substantiation of the relevance of the chosen research topic. The recent years events related to the growing tension in trade relations between the United States and China, the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, have led to the need to transform the balance of power in global financial markets: the decline in the absolute leading position of the US dollar and the strengthening of the role of other currencies, in particular the euro. Special attention is paid to the reasons why the European currency failed to displace the US dollar from the place of the "world reserve currency №1", and there are analyzed the factors that prevent the dollar from losing its leading position. In addition, there are considered the initiatives of the EU governments aimed at expanding the role of the euro and increasing its importance in the international monetary system. There are used the methods of system analysis and synthesis, the method of induction, the content analysis of domestic and foreign literature about the topic of research, the analysis of international statistical data. Актуальность. События последних лет, связанные с ростом напряженности в торговых взаимоотношениях между США и Китаем, кризисом, вызванным пандемией COVID-19, обусловили необходимость трансформации баланса сил на мировых финансовых рынках: снижение абсолютного лидирующего положения доллара США и укрепление роли других валют, в частности евро. Особое внимание уделено причинам, по которым европейской валюте не удалось вытеснить американский доллар с места «мировой резервной валюты № 1», а также проанализированы факторы, не дающие последнему упустить лидирующую позицию. Кроме того, рассматриваются инициативы правительств ЕС, направленные на расширение роли евро и увеличение его значимости в международной валютной системе. Использованы методы системного анализа и синтеза, метод индукции, контент-анализ отечественной и зарубежной литературы по теме исследования, анализ международных статистических данных. |
