Subject Terms: Abstract deductive systems, fundamental structures, Abstract Logic, foundations of logic
Description: Summary: Since Aristotle logic is formal in the sense that it does not depend on the content, we reach Abstract Logic making a further step in abstraction: abstraction of the form. Abstract logic is the study of logic not taking in account the underlying structure, often called the ``language''. At this abstract level, the objects of logic are not ``formulas''. Logic is defined as a class of fundamental structures, in the sense of Bourbaki. Abstract logic is a general study of logic and it contributes to the foundations of logic giving a better understanding of logic based on unity and universality.
