The article provides information on the institution of a post-graduate diploma course of the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Karachi in Pakistan. The course, directed by Dr. Abdul Moid, opened a new academic discipline providing facility for graduate study which includes five courses along with the provision of practical training. The courses include Public Libraries, Communication and Media Librarianship and School Library Media Center Management. The information science program aims to introduce highly intelligent and experienced librarians and library school teachers to methods of research and to encourage the investigation of problems in librarianship. |
