This article focuses on corrections made to a prior publication concerning Schmallenberg virus (SBV) research, specifically addressing errors in bibliographic references and unsupported statements related to livestock movement, wildlife hosts, diagnostic methods, vaccine uptake, and vaccine development. The corrections clarify that animal movement’s epidemiological role depends on vector presence, that wildlife seroprevalence studies are not systematic reviews, and that Italian serological evidence confirms SBV exposure without specifying diagnostic pathways. It also revises qualitative factors contributing to low vaccine uptake—such as perceived low disease risk, vaccine cost, labor demands, and vaccine availability—and updates comparative information on second-generation SBV vaccine platforms, highlighting regulatory and practical challenges without unsupported timeline estimates. The authors affirm that these corrections do not affect the original scientific conclusions. [Extracted from the article] |
