This study examines how caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) utilize Facebook support groups to cope with caregiving challenges. Caregiving for children with ASD often leads to emotional, financial, and social burdens for both men and women. As traditional support systems may be lacking, caregivers turn to online communities for assistance. However, there is limited research on caregiving experiences of men. By analyzing 300 posts from male and female caregivers in ASD-specific Facebook groups, the study reveals the crucial role these platforms play in providing emotional support, advice, and connection. Caregivers seek guidance on communication, behavior management, and accessing resources. Overall, Facebook support groups serve as vital resources for caregivers, facilitating peer connections and coping strategies amid the demands of caregiving. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
