This article examines marketplace inclusion as a fundamental ethical obligation for firms, rather than merely a strategic or economic choice. It argues that inclusion should be justified through multiple ethical frameworks—stakeholder theory, deontological ethics, justice ethics, virtue ethics, and utilitarianism—each providing distinct rationales for recognizing marginalized consumers, employees, and communities as legitimate stakeholders deserving respect, fairness, and equitable participation. The article highlights how these ethical perspectives equip managers with tailored arguments to support inclusive practices across diverse organizational contexts and inform policy approaches that promote nondiscrimination, accessibility, fairness, corporate integrity, and overall societal welfare. Ultimately, marketplace exclusion is framed as a moral failure, while inclusion is presented as essential to sustaining firm legitimacy and advancing social justice. [Extracted from the article] |
