The dynamic behaviour of modular pavements incorporating advanced materials remains a challenging topic. A novel modular concrete pavement (MCP) system composed of precast SIFCON elements was developed. The thickness of the SIFCON layer and the fibre length were optimised using experimental data and response surface methodology (RSM). A design chart defined optimal efficiency ranges in element production. The MCP system, informed by the design chart, was tested under a loaded truck, and vertical deformations were recorded. This field test was replicated using a 3D finite element (FE) model, which accounted for suspension and rolling motion effects. The parametric FE analyses were conducted after model validation with field measurements. The MCP system exhibited a maximum deformation of 0.24 mm under dynamic loading, consistent with values in the literature and suitable for rapid on-site assembly. The parametric FE analyses indicated that truck speed is a major parameter for vertical deformation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
