Περίληψη: The study examined the barriers to adopting cybercrime mitigation techniques among university ICT personnel: Insights from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. The objectives were to identify the skills and competences possessed by Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Staff of ABU, Zaria for preserving portal data, to identify the challenges encountered by ICT Staff of ABU, Zaria in adopting Cybercrime Management Techniques for preserving portal data. Quantitative research methodology was adopted for this study using crosssectional survey research design. The study comprised of seventy-two (72) staff of the four (4) ICT units of the university. The entire population was used as sample size and total population sampling technique was adopted for the study. The instrument used for collecting data was selfdeveloped questionnaire, the instrument was validated using face and content validity criteria. The data collected were analyzed using frequency distribution and percentages. The study found out that, user support is the most possessed skill and competence by ICT staff in ABU, Zaria for handling portal, also the study discovered that, system downtime and reliability; funding and budget constraints are the main challenges encountered by ICT Staff of ABU, Zaria in adopting cybercrime management techniques for handling of portal. The study concluded that, the need for a holistic cybersecurity strategy that addresses both people and systems. The study recommended that; the university’s ICT department, in partnership with the human resources unit, should initiate professional development programs to improve project management skills among ICT staff. The university management should allocate dedicated funding for cybersecurity infrastructure and maintenance to minimize system downtime and enhance reliability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
