Robo-advisory services are increasingly transforming the digital investment landscape by offering algorithm-driven financial advice. However, consumer adoption remains uneven, particularly in emerging markets where technological readiness and service awareness vary considerably. Drawing on the Technology Readiness Index (TRI), this study examines how individuals' technological predispositions--optimism, innovativeness, discomfort, and insecurity--influence their intention to use robo-advisory services, while integrating service awareness as a key cognitive mechanism. Using survey data from 180 Malaysian consumers, the study employs partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to test the proposed framework. The results indicate that optimism and innovativeness exert significant positive effects on both awareness and adoption intention, while insecurity shows no significant direct influence on either outcome. Discomfort, however, demonstrates a more nuanced pattern: it negatively affects awareness but exerts a significant positive direct effect on adoption intention. Awareness emerges as the strongest predictor of adoption intention and serves as a key mediating mechanism, partially transmitting the effects of optimism and innovativeness. This study contributes to the FinTech literature by advancing a theoretically grounded framework that synthesises psychological predispositions and cognitive awareness to elucidate consumers' adoption intentions in AI-driven financial services. Practical implications are provided for FinTech providers seeking to accelerate adoption through awareness-building initiatives in emerging digital economies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
