Abstract (English): The article examines the working and remuneration conditions of solo self-employed individuals in Germany, with a particular focus on the tension between social appreciation in client relationships and precarious income situations. Solo self-employed people often rely on good, appreciative relationships with clients, which, however, weakens their negotiating position for appropriate fees and thus entrenches precarious income. The study is based on a survey of 1,619 solo self-employed individuals from various professions and shows that despite high job satisfaction and social resources, many affected persons suffer from income conditions that threaten their livelihood. The project "House of the Self-Employed" (HDS) aims to strengthen the representation of interests of this occupational group and to achieve improvements in remuneration and work quality through collective measures, educational offerings, and fee recommendations. It is emphasized that a stronger inclusion of solo self-employed individuals in the discourse on "Good Work" is necessary in order to make their specific needs and challenges visible.
