Περίληψη: Chemical processes such as bioreactors, storage tanks, and continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTR) exhibit non-self-regulation. Such processes, when accompanied by dead time, become even more challenging to control. For such processes, Smith predictor schemes are preferred over unity feedback schemes. To effectively control delay-dominant integrative chemical plants, a robust decoupled Smith predictor (RDSP) is proposed in this work. The servo tracking controller is designed using a pole-zero-shifted version of the plant model and internal model control theory. A regulatory proportional-derivative controller, which can be adjusted without affecting the servo tracking performance, is designed as per Routh's stability requirements. The tunables of servo and regulatory controllers are fine-tuned using an equilibrium optimiser after taking into account maximum sensitivity and stability constraints. This RDSP not only compensates for dead time but also permits independent tuning of its two controllers. The analytically designed servo and regulatory controllers, optimised for improved performance, exhibit superior and resilient closed-loop functionality compared to certain conventional single/dual-loop control techniques. The suggested design is further subjected to a robust stability check and fragility analysis followed by real-time validation using a benchmark non-linear model of an isothermal continuously stirred tank reactor and OPAL-RT simulator, confirming its practical viability.
