Auto-abstracting techniques based on high-frequency words show an extremely small variation among themselves in the selection of sentences to form abstracts. Human selection of sentences, although less variable than chance expectancy, is considerably more variable than the machine methods. There was very little agreement between the subjects and machine methods in their selection of representative sentences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
