| Abstract (English): |
The article discusses reflection as a fundamental action of the Catholic university, based on the thinking of Chilean philosopher Humberto Giannini and his concept of everyday reflection. The author develops how reflection emerges from lived experience in the street and settles in the home, transgressing routine through reflective mediation. He explains that the university, as a formal plaza of mediation for knowledge, must function as a communal space where teachers and students jointly seek truth through Socratic dialogue, moving away from the Napoleonic model that reduces education to instrumental professional training. The text criticizes the current "commercialization" of the university and proposes that genuine reflection must integrate ethical and theological levels that question human meaning and the origin of creation, not merely technical efficiency. Finally, it argues that an authentic Catholic university must maintain spaces of transgressive reflection that allow encounter with divine mystery, while integrating dialogue with institutions of technical and professional training toward the common good. | Abstract (Spanish): |
