This paper presents a novel adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) sensor and its application to multibody separation problems. The proposed sensor integrates conventional shock indicators, mesh quality metrics, and mesh volume variations, thereby providing a more favorable environment for high‐order numerical schemes. The sensor was coupled with a mesh deformation technique to adapt the boundary movements during the separation process. The improved mesh deformation method is employed to solve the unsteady Navier–Stokes equations, which are coupled with six‐degree‐of‐freedom (SDOF) rigid‐body dynamics equations. To validate the practicability and reliability of the proposed approach, a classical wing‐pylon‐finned‐store separation configuration was simulated. The effects of different mesh refinement intervals were also investigated. A high‐order QUICK scheme was adopted for spatial discretization. The simulation results showed good agreement with the experimental data, demonstrating the accuracy and potential of the novel AMR sensor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
