| Abstract: |
In this paper, a study is made of fans of Liverpool Football Club in an effort to reveal what is argued to be a previously unconsidered binary opposition present within that club’s fan base. In recent years, there has been a somewhat settled view of the nature of the club’s fans who have broadly been presented as ‘leftist’. A number of scholarly articles have been written about Liverpool fan groups which have drawn this conclusion. This paper questions the validity of those conclusions by offering a case study of an emergent Liverpool fan group whose philosophy and beliefs somewhat confound the notion of a settled political conversation amongst the fans of Liverpool FC.
