Περίληψη: This contribution offers an essay by Nikolai Vasilyevich Kyuner on Nikita Yakovlevich Bichurin's studies on Central Asia in its original form – a hitherto unpublished archival document kept at the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography in St. Petersburg. The document, written in Cyrillic script with footnotes and handwritten annotations, is included in the appendix, preceded by an annotated English translation and metadata information provided by the author of these lines. Also included are the minutes of the meeting of the China Section of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Moscow) in August 1952, whose discussions and decisions led to the non-publication of the anniversary volume on Bichurin, one of the founding fathers of Russian Sinology, who based his studies on Central Asia primarily on Chinese sources.
