Περίληψη: This article focuses on evaluating dried blood microsampling, specifically volumetric absorptive microsampling (VAMS), as a method to mitigate post-sampling formation and instability of 11-ketotestosterone (11-KT) in blood samples from patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). The study demonstrates that 11-KT concentrations increase artifactually in unprocessed liquid blood due to enzymatic conversion, complicating accurate measurement. In contrast, 11-KT levels measured in dried blood collected via VAMS showed good agreement with those in promptly processed liquid samples and remained stable for up to one week at room temperature. These findings suggest that VAMS offers a practical, minimally invasive alternative for reliable 11-KT quantification, potentially facilitating improved disease monitoring and decentralized or home-based sampling for CAH patients, though further validation in capillary blood and real-world settings is needed.
