Chemical Kinetics is the description of the reaction rate, which is the part of chemistry concerned with the speeds or rates at which a chemical reaction occurs. In addition, there are four factors affecting the chemistry reaction rate: concentration, the physical state or surface of the reactant, temperature, and the presence of a catalyst. However, the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) can be completely decomposed to form oxygen gas in the presence of appropriate catalysts known as bio-catalysis (liver enzymes) and heterogeneous (potassium permanganate). The study aimed to investigate 1) the effect of liver enzymes on the decomposition hydrogen peroxide rate and 2) compare the effect between bio-catalysis (liver enzymes) and heterogenous (Potassium permanganate) by recording the time of decomposition hydrogen peroxide to calculate the value of the rate by the ratio of the concentration change with the duration (Rate = − Δ [ H 2 O 2 ] Δ t). Consequently, the result interprets that the effect of 0.1g of pig's liver enzymes on the decomposition rate was 0.006 M/s; the effect of 0.2 g of pig's liver enzymes was 0.009 M/s; the effect of 0.3g of pig's liver enzymes was 0.014 M/s. However, the heterogeneous catalyst (potassium permanganate) is more effective in the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide than pig's liver enzymes for the reason that 0.1g of potassium permanganate (MnO4−) on the decomposition rate was 0.071M/s; the effecting 0.2g of (MnO4−) catalyst was 0.116 M/s; and the affecting 0.3g of (MnO4−) catalyst was 0.153M/s. In conclusion, bio-catalysis (Pig's liver enzymes) can accelerate the rate of the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide with safety for the environment. It is easy to find at low prices in daily life. Otherwise, bio-catalysis and heterogeneous affect rates of decomposition of H2O2 due to statically significant that was revealed by the descriptive statistic P<0.05. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
