The article discusses the development of a dictionary focused on the historical semantics of political discourse in Germany during the twentieth century, spearheaded by Berlin's Leibniz Centre for Literary and Cultural Research (ZfL) in collaboration with various institutes. This interdisciplinary project aims to analyze the evolution of key concepts within the German language, particularly in the context of the political and social upheavals experienced in both the Federal Republic of Germany and the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The dictionary will explore the complexities of language use, including the impact of globalization, technological advancements, and the historical context of divided statehood, while also addressing the methodological challenges of conceptual history.
