This Thesis is a research of the initial and aftermarket returns for the US-listed Shipping initial public offerings (IPOs). Data & Methodology provided by J. R. Ritter (1991-2002-2013) and D. Gounopoulos & A. Merikas (2009). Targeting the short - and long-term performance of IPOs of common stocks in the US-listed Shipping Industry compare with the total number of the United States of America listed IPOs, and explores the factors influencing their performance. For that, it employs a number of IPOs issued on the US stock exchanges during the period 1980-2011 for US-listed IPOs and 1987-2007 for the shipping IPOs.
