Description
Summary:The aim of this research is to examine the relation between gender and border crossing. The main purpose is to study how gender affects the migration process as a whole from the country of origin to the host country. The thesis will attempt to analyse and highlight in depth what it means to be a displaced woman crossing the border. The main research methods are qualitative research through observation, interviews and research based on art. By highlighting women's experiences and narratives of home, borders, uprooting and the host country, it becomes clear that gender has a significant impact at every stage of the migration process. The final part of the research focuses on women's expression through the art of poetry. Through poetry, women gain a voice, confront their past and stand with optimism and strength in the present, claiming a better future for themselves, their sisters, mothers and daughters, writing on behalf of all women crossing land and sea borders, refugees, exiles, "Others" redefining their identities in inhospitable and male-dominated societies
