Σκοπός αυτής της εργασίας είναι να διερευνηθεί η αντίληψη των ενδιαφερομένων μερών σχετικά με την αποτελεσματικότητα της εφαρμογής της οδηγίας πλαισίου για τη θαλάσσια στρατηγική της ΕΕ (MSFD). Για το λόγο αυτό, έγινε ανασκόπηση της βιβλιογραφίας για το παραπάνω θέμα καθώς και σχετικές μελέτες. Πραγματοποιήθηκε πρωταρχική εμπειρική μελέτη προκειμένου να εντοπιστεί ο βαθμός στον οποίο οι ενδιαφερόμενοι προβάλλουν την αποτελεσματικότητα της θαλάσσιας πολιτικής της οδηγίας πλαισίου της ΕΕ για τη θαλάσσια στρατηγική. Μέσω της ανασκόπησης της βιβλιογραφίας, συλλέχθηκαν δευτερεύοντα δεδομένα από βιβλία, άρθρα και επίσημες ιστοσελίδες. Κατά την αναζήτηση πληροφοριών, κυρίως λόγω της έλλειψης επιστημονικών ερευνών που αφορούσαν αποκλειστικά τη θαλάσσια στρατηγική της ΕΕ, δημιουργήθηκαν δυσκολίες. Ωστόσο, αυτές ξεπεράστηκαν με την αναζήτηση σε διαδικτυακούς τόπους, οι οποίοι παρείχαν αρκούντες πληροφορίες σχετικά με το υπό εξέταση θέμα. Τα στοιχεία που συλλέχθηκαν αναλύθηκαν καθώς τα ευρήματα αναμένεται να αποκαλύψουν πτυχές που σχετίζονται με την εφαρμογή της οδηγίας MSFD μέχρι στιγμής. Επιπλέον, τα θεματικά πεδία που προσδιορίζονται θα παράσχουν τα απαραίτητα εργαλεία για τους υπεύθυνους χάραξης πολιτικής που να ευθυγραμμίζεται καλύτερα με περιβαλλοντικούς στόχους και τις ανάγκες των ενδιαφερομένων.

Τα στοιχεία που συλλέχθηκαν αναλύθηκαν καθώς τα ευρήματα αναμένεται να αποκαλύψουν πτυχές που σχετίζονται με την εφαρμογή της οδηγίας MSFD μέχρι στιγμής. Επιπλέον, τα θεματικά πεδία που προσδιορίζονται θα παράσχουν τα απαραίτητα εργαλεία για τους υπεύθυνους χάραξης πολιτικής που να ευθυγραμμίζεται καλύτερα με περιβαλλοντικούς στόχους και τις ανάγκες των ενδιαφερομένων. The aim of this dissertation is to explore stakeholders’ perception on the effectiveness on the implementation of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). For this reason, literature review on the above issue was sought out as well as relevant studies. Primary empirical study was conducted in order to identify the extent to which stakeholders highlight the effectiveness of the maritime framework of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive. Through the literature review, secondary data was collected from books, articles and official websites. In the search for information, mainly due to the lack of scientific papers dealing exclusively with the EU’s marine strategy, difficulties had arisen. However, these were overcome by searching on websites, which provided more than enough information on the subject under consideration. Following content analysis and existing research data collected was analyzed as findings are expected to shed light to practical aspects relating to the implementation of MSFD thus far.
