Summary:The aim of this study is to highlight the diversity in Maritime Industry and to present the role of women in this industry. For better understanding and organization of thesis, the text has been divided in five chapters. In the first and introductory chapter there is a presentation of the meaning of HRM. Moreover, there has been done a wide research about the benefits from HRM and the imperative role of HR Department, inside a corporation. Subsequently, in the second chapter are pointed out fundamental information about diversity, as diversity in workplace, kinds of diversity etc. Particular reference is made to diversity and HRM and how those two are combined. Furthermore, the issue of diversity in Maritime Industry is being considered. In the third chapter, is presented the role of women in Maritime Industry. First of all, there is a brief overview about women in Maritime history and that brings the flow to present and women’s role in present Maritime Industry with special reference to great Greek female shipowners. In the fourth chapter, thesis has been completed with some interviews and personal narratives from women employing in Maritime Industry, as well interviews from men seafarers. At the end, in the fifth chapter there has been the conclusion of the thesis with important findings from the whole research.
