| Περίληψη: | Space has always exerted great influence on the physical and spiritual welfare of the human beings. It has a catalytic effect both on the physical and mental state influencing, hence, the quality of individual activities. School space is a field of social development and behavior formation. Moreover, it enhances socialization, acquisition of knowledge and values, and develops healthy emotions, abilities and skills for students. Overall comfort conditions prevailing in a school building play a catalytic role on the psychological state, the feelings and, hence, the performance of the students and, more generally, on the quality of the educational work. "Overall comfort conditions" means thermal, acoustic, visual comfort, and air quality within a school classroom. This research aims at exploring and recording Rhodes secondary school teachers' perspectives regarding school buildings' overall comfort conditions. For this aim to be achieved, three research axes have been defined. The first research axis concerns the teachers' satisfaction regarding the classrooms' overall comfort conditions, the layout and the functional connections of the school premises, the condition and the visual appearance of the school building premises and the classroom equipment condition and adequacy. The second research axis concerns the impact of overall comfort conditions on improving the quality of teaching, on health, on behavior and on the socialization of students, and on developing and cultivating feelings of respect for school. The third axis aims at exploring teachers' perspectives regarding the factors or actions that could help improve the overall comfort conditions and to help addressing the infrastructure problems of school buildings. The research has emerged soundproofing and thermal comfort problems and issues about the appearance of school classrooms and the layout of school space. A lack of multi-purpose halls has also emerged. Furthermore, a need to improve outdoor spaces with the aim at transforming them into safe and "green" environments, a need for buildings' energy upgrade, and a need to improve hygiene in the toilets and school sports facilities was highlighted. Moreover, it was ascertained by the research that overall comfort conditions, such as temperature, illumination, noise and air quality, greatly influence the quality of teaching in schools, improve pupils' health, behavior, learning process and develop students' feelings of respect for school, as well as their socialization. Finally, the use of technology, the modification of legislation for the care and maintenance of school buildings, the punishment of those responsible, as well as the active participation of the citizens, have proved to be actions that can contribute to addressing school building problems.
