description This Diploma Thesis focuses on the financial aspects of the Maritime Industry and the possible ways that the industry can be benefited and evolved using statistical tools and mathematicalforecasting models. All the initials regarding the two industries will be presented and there will be an exposure to models, tools and applications. Risk Management is probably the most important factor in modern Finance and this diploma thesis will reveal paths that Shipping Companies can apply, directly or indirectly, in order to exploit market weaknesses and profit from them, track and minimize possible dangers, simulate the market trends and finally create market forecasts.
