In part one, we attempt an insight into the central concept of the project through the presentation of climatic change and global warming on the basis of concrete scientific documentation. In part two, we present the research process adopted with the aim of exploring the views of the teachers of secondary education on the specific issues. Part one consists of eight chapters whereas part two is made up of three chapters. In the first chapter of part one, we define the problem to be explored, we discuss the concept of the environment, we analyze the concepts of climate and climatic change as well as their connection with global warming. In chapters two and three we present the greenhouse effect and the existing scientific data with regards to the greenhouse gases. The problems pertinent to these phenomena have made people take actions in order to narrow them down or at least moderate them. Chapter four focuses on these actions taken both by powerful countries and by Greece. In the following chapter we present the issues relevant to the ozone depletion and its resulting effects. In chapter six the new concept of sustainable development and the ‘key’ role of environmental education are discussed, whereas chapter seven analyses the concept of equality between generations and how this concept is associated with the management of the environment. Finally, part one concludes by drawing conclusions about the environmental problems discussed above.Part two focuses on the research process. In chapter one we present the research methodology followed and a well-documented bibliography review of pertinent published papers. More specifically, we refer to the research rationale, its necessity, its aims and goals. Then the focus shifts on the very process of the research approach and the instruments used, the description of the sample of the research and the interview-taking process.In chapter two we deal with the descriptive results of the research. In five different main areas we present the views of the teachers with reference to the twenty four proposals of the questionnaire, the views of the teachers with reference to the environmental friendly actions suggested for the resolution of global warming and climatic change, the views of the teachers with reference to the causes of global warming and finally the views of the teachers with reference to the effects of global warming and climatic change.
