description The present research investigates the international scientific literature on: (1) the epidemiologic studies on extremely low frequency (ELF) electric and magnetic fields associated predominately with the transmission of electricity and (2) the studies evaluating the perceptual issues and awareness in relation to the overhead power lines (transmission lines and distribution lines) and the structures (pylons,substations) associated with the transmission and distribution of electricity. Furthermore, it evaluates the knowledge of electric and magnetic fields and the opinions regarding the effects of electric and magnetic fields, of the students that comprise the citizens of the local school community of Rodini, Rhodes which not only houses a school (gymnasio), the scenic Rodini park with beautiful peacocks, many residences, but also includes a Public Power Corporation's (PPC-ΔΕΗ) substation, transmission lines and pylons, in close proximity to some of th residential units of Rodini.
