Περιγραφή: This thesis, a compendium of publications, aims at contributing knowledge to better design CSCL tools for promoting socioemotional interactions and regulation. We started with a field study in which we observed groups of students collaborating in a context outside school. We designed a functional prototype for an asynchronous communication tool that integrated features to facilitate socio-emotional interactions and regulation during the whole process of collaboration. The most valued feature by students was the possibility to send anonymous messages to the collaborative chat. We found that anonymity increases social interactions but also unproductive messages. To optimize the increase in social interactions (while decreasing the amount of trolling messages) we tested different types of anonymity. Our results show that anonymity to peers but not to the teacher is the most productive one. We also offer a taxonomy of off-task messages because many of them contribute to a good atmosphere in the group.
