Περιγραφή: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being discussed at the international level, with a particular focus on its potential to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Global Digital Compact, adopted at the Summit of the Future, calls for the establishment of international institutions to govern AI technologies. The impact of AI on sustainable development is a multifaceted issue. While some AI technologies may contribute to the achievement of some specific SDG targets, AI may also have a negative impact on the SDGs, especially due to its high consumption of natural resources and energy as well as the economic interests related to the technology. Therefore, it is essential to thoroughly assess the implications of the development and use of AI technologies, in order to understand the challenges at stake and adopt sound policies accordingly.
