Description: Diabetes mellitus is associated with both acute and chronic complications. Control of blood sugar along with control of associated cardiovascular risk factors if any reduce the chance of the development of various complications. Biosensors help in the diagnosis and proper monitoring of diabetes so that it can be managed effectively. Clinically efficient, user-friendly, affordable biosensors can bring a remarkable change in the outcome of people with diabetes. In this short review, we are briefly describing various kinds of biosensing units (on the basis of transducers), the working of biosensing units, and the role of biosensors in diabetes by using non-enzymatic, label-free, enzymatic, non-invasive, biomarkers, and green synthesis approach for accurate, reliable, specific, convenient and rapid detection of diabetes in humans.
