| Περιγραφή: | Ankle rattles, also known as chachayotes (Náhuatl), ayayotes, hueseras or cascabeles. are idiophones (percussion instruments) made from both incised and undecorated hollow tree nuts called chachayotl; they are attached with a cord to a leather base decorated with beadwork. Usually, they are worn in pairs, tied around a dancer's ankles, or wrists (sonaja.) Their sound is said to resemble that of a rattlesnake or the rain. |
