| Description: | The article provides the author’s historical periodization of the russian-Ukrainian war, covering the yearsof 2014–2023. Based on previous scientifi c developments, the authors propose to consider the armed aggressionof the russian federation against Ukraine within three periods, by distinguishing their phases and stages thatdiff er qualitatively in terms of the purpose, nature and content of hostilities. The 1st period is the shortest(February 20, 2014 — the beginning of April 2014), however, during this period the russian federation occupiedthe Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. Moreover, the period, in turn, consists of twophases. The II period was marked by russia’s resolution of the armed confl ict in Eastern Ukraine (beginningof April 2014 — February 23, 2022). The authors divided it into two phases, each of them, in turn, includesthree and four stages, respectively. Phase 1 (divided into three stages), although short in time (fi ve months), wasdynamic, while phase 2 (divided into four stages) lasted 8 years, which enabled the russian military-politicalleadership to prepare local infrastructure for intensifying hostilities. The authors tentatively named the III period“The Great War” (from February 24, 2022). Currently, it is impossible to end the periodization of the russian-Ukrainian war, because it is still ongoing. At the same time, after two years of confrontation, two phases of theIII period can be distinguished. The fi rst phase is characterized by a rapid off ensive of the enemy’s troops,counteroff ensive actions of the Defence Forces of Ukraine and the de-occupation of the captured territories.The second phase, in turn, is more marked by a parity confrontation, individual counteroff ensive actions andtactical successes of the Defence Forces of Ukraine, at the same time without signifi cant and turning points atthe front in favour of Ukraine. У статті наведено авторську історичну періодизацію російсько-української війни, що охоплює 2014–2023 роки. Проаналізовано існуючі на сьогодні періодизації, розроблені вітчизняними військовими істориками. На основі попередніх наукових розробок автори пропонують розглядати збройну агресію російської федерації проти України умежах трьох періодів, виділивши уних фази та етапи, що якісно відрізняються за метою, характером ізмістом бойових дій. Кожен із запропонованих періодів має свої особливості: І період поділено лише на фази, ІІ та ІІІ періоди розглядаються умежах фаз, що, усвою чергу, діляться на етапи. |
