Description: The article addresses the issue of developing students’ intercultural competence within the framework of current educational transformations guided by the New Ukrainian School Concept. The author emphasizes the necessity of an integrative approach that ensures the interaction of subjects in the language and literature cycle, thereby fostering the holistic development of students’ personalities. Particular attention is paid to the possibilities of combining the study of the German language with the integrated course of literature (Ukrainian and world literature) in order to stimulate cognitive activity, enhance critical thinking, shape emotional and value-based orientations, and improve intercultural communication skills. The article clarifies the essence of the concept of “intercultural competence” and identifies its key components: the axiological component (value orientations, tolerance, readiness for dialogue), the cognitive component (knowledge of cultural contexts, historical and literary facts, linguistic features), and the operational component (the ability to apply cultural knowledge in practical communication situations). The importance of cross-curricular links is substantiated as an effective tool for integrating various areas of the humanities and for demonstrating the interdependence of languages, literatures, and cultures. The paper presents examples of integrated tasks aimed at developing students’ ability to compare literary works from different cultures, interpret texts in their socio-cultural context, analyze similarities and differences in artistic images and styles, and reflect on universal human themes (love, friendship, freedom, nature, destiny). Special emphasis is placed on the use of authentic materials (musical, literary, and media texts), which allow students to immerse themselves in the cultural environment, develop language competencies, and strengthen emotional intelligence. The results of the study confirm that the implementation of an integrative approach in teaching contributes to a balanced combination of knowledge, skills, and values necessary for modern learners. The suggested methodological approaches foster students’ readiness for intercultural interaction, cultivate respect for cultural diversity, and encourage awareness of their own national identity within the dialogue of cultures.
У статті з’ясовано сутність міжкультурної компетентності учнів та її структурні компоненти (аксіологічний, когнітивний і діяльнісний). Обґрунтовано значення інтегративного підходу й міжпредметних зв’язків, що поєднують мовно-літературні дисципліни. Запропоновано приклади завдань із використанням автентичних матеріалів, які сприяють розвитку критичного мислення, читацьких і мовленнєвих умінь, емоційного інтелекту, ціннісних орієнтацій й поваги до культурного різноманіття. Результати доводять ефективність запропонованих підходів у сучасному навчальному процесі.
