| Description: | The article attempts an interdisciplinary study of the relationship between the forms of modern democracy and its essence in the context of global and national discourses. The priority of forms of direct political participation over individualized sovereignty of the people in quality democracy is argued. Promising areas of interdisciplinary research are the problems of balancing the forms of democracy and securing it from the manipulations of political elites. У статті зроблено спробу міждисциплінарного дослідження співвідношення форм сучасної демократії з її сутністю у контексті глобального й національного дискурсів. Аргументується пріоритет форм прямої політичної участі над індивідуалізованою відповідно суверенітету народу в якісній демократії. Перспективними напрямками міждисциплінарних досліджень є проблеми балан- су форм демократії та убезпечення її від маніпуляцій політичних еліт. |
