Description: This article examines the importance and role of innovations in ensuring the energy security of small countries deprived of natural resources in the form of any hydrocarbons, including the Republic of Moldova, which are in the situation of a net importer of all types of hydrocarbons. Based on the triune concept of strategic development of the member states of the European Union, which provides for ensuring the energy security of their countries by increasing the reliability of supplies, availability of energy and availability of the necessary energy in sufficient quantities, described earlier by the author in his previous scientific papers and reports, this article examines the mutual influence of the transition to alternative carbon-free energy sources, through innovative technologies for the Republic of Moldova, as the only way to energy independence in terms of the quality and type of energy sources used. It is proposed to consider a little described or debated, unlike natural gas and electricity, part of the hydrocarbons imported into the country, which are liquid hydrocarbons, in the context of consumption sources and alternatives for them based on innovative discoveries and research both in the field of application and transformation of energy types to fulfill the task of a source of consumption.
