| Description: | Article is devoted to the historiographic review of American historical school of Franz Boas and his views on the culture. The review covers Soviet literature of the period from the 1920s until 2013. Article is divided into two parts because of a large amount of collected material. This article is the first part of work and covers the Soviet period literature on the problem. A considerable number of sources of national literature (journals, textbooks, monographs) has been viewed for the topic’s disclosure. The article highlights the content of each of the presented works and presents conclusions about the topic in the summary. During the Soviet period the American Historical School and theoretical views of F. Boas were discussed by scientists within the humanities such as history, philosophy, and ethnography. Most of the publications in the article on the topic have been published in the magazine “Soviet Ethnography.” Most of the articles of this journal on the studied topic are dated between 1928 and 1935. During this period, a number of articles and monographs of F. Boas were translated and introduced into science. Among Soviet ethnographers, Y.P. Averkieva (former progeny of F. Boas) paid much attention in her works to the “School of Boas.” She repeatedly addressed to the history of the formation of the American ethnography, not only in the pages of periodicals, but also devoted to this issue serious monographic work. Most described works in this article about the American historical school and the views of F. Boas contain the ideological cliche, which is consistent with the Marxist-Leninist views of the Soviet period. We may assume that works of some of the authors (D.M. Segal, L.P. Kuzmina, S.A. Tokarev) avoided the ideological context. В статье представлен историографический обзор американской исторической школы и взглядов на культуру Франца Боаса в отечественной литературе за советский период. Автор публикации кратко освещает содержание каждой представленной работы и делает выводы о состоянии изученности рассматриваемой темы. |
