| Description: | The article deals with the moral values of the Victorian era and especially with their transformation into “anti-values” in Oscar Wilde’s novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray”. Oscar Wilde makes fun of morality of his contemporary society and tries to draw readers’ attention to the urgent problems of immorality, hypocrisy, poverty, and cynicism. The article discusses peculiarities of transfer of the Victorian values and anti-values from the novel, when translating it into the Russian language, as well as the effect of language personality of the interpreter for translation as a process and a result. В статье рассматриваются моральные ценности викторианской эпохи о особенности их превращения в «антиценности» в романе О. Уайльда «Портрет Дориана Грея». О. Уайльд высмеивает мораль современного ему общества и тем самым пытается привлечь внимание к актуальным проблемам безнравственности, лицемерия, нищеты, ханжества и цинизма. Обсуждаются особенности передачи викторианских ценностей и антиценностей, зафиксированных в романе, при переводе на русский язык, а также влияние языковой личности переводчика на текст перевода. |
