| Description: | Το παρόν άρθρο εστιάζει στη διερεύνηση των κοινωνιογλωσσικών αναπαραστάσεων και των προτιμήσεων μαθητών και μαθητριών ελληνικών δημόσιων σχολείων σχετικά με τις διδασκόμενες ξένες γλώσσες. Συγκεκριμένα, στοχεύει στην καταγραφή των παραγόντων που επηρεάζουν την επιλογή της ξένης γλώσσας σε δείγμα μαθητικού πληθυσμού Δημοτικών και Γυμνασίων της περιοχής της Αττικής, που συμμετείχε στην έρευνα, καθώς και στην αποτύπωση των διαμορφωμένων στερεοτύπων τους. Εξετάζει, μεταξύ άλλων, τις αντιλήψεις τους για τις ισχυρές και τις ασθενείς ξένες γλώσσες, τους λόγους που καθορίζουν την επιλογή της γλώσσας και μελετά την ενδεχόμενη επιθυμία τους για διεύρυνση των προσφερόμενων θεσμικά επιλογών ξένων γλωσσών εκμάθησης. Τα αποτελέσματα αποτελούν μέρος εμπειρικής έρευνας, η οποία διεξήχθη στο πλαίσιο της εκπονούμενης διδακτορικής διατριβής μου και βασίζεται σε ποσοτικά και ποιοτικά δεδομένα που συλλέχθηκαν μέσω ερωτηματολογίων, τα οποία συμπληρώθηκαν στις σχολικές τάξεις. Στόχος της παρούσας μελέτης είναι η συμβολή της στη διερεύνηση των αναγκών και των προσδοκιών των μαθητών και των μαθητριών σχετικά με τις παρεχόμενες από το ελληνικό εκπαιδευτικό σύστημα ξένες γλώσσες, η απόπειρα εκτίμησης της αποτελεσματικότητας των υφιστάμενων κρατικών γλωσσικών πολιτικών αναφορικά με τη διδασκαλία των ξένων γλωσσών στα ιδρύματα της πρωτοβάθμιας και της δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης και η παρουσίαση βελτιωτικών προτάσεων που στοχεύουν στην ενίσχυση της γλωσσικής πολυμορφίας και στην προώθηση της ισότητας των ευκαιριών ως προς την εκμάθηση των ξένων γλωσσών εντός σχολικού πλαισίου. Εκτιμάται ότι η διαμόρφωση της επιλογής των διδασκόμενων ξένων γλωσσών με βάση τις προσωπικές προτιμήσεις και τα ενδιαφέροντα των μαθητών και των μαθητριών, καθώς η δυνατότητα επιλογής ανάμεσα σε μια ευρεία γκάμα ισχυρών ή ασθενών γλωσσών, είναι θεμιτή και αντικατοπτρίζει τις σύγχρονες τάσεις και ανάγκες της κοινωνίας. Τέλος, μέσα από την προώθηση της ιδέας της ίσης μεταχείρισης των ξένων γλωσσών, επιθυμείται η συμβολή στην αποδόμηση των υπαρχόντων στερεοτύπων σχετικά με τις «ισχυρές» και «ασθενείς» ξένες γλώσσες και η ενίσχυση της ιδέας της ισότητας των γλωσσών. Cet article examine les représentations sociolinguistiques et les préférences des élèves des écoles publiques grecques concernant les langues étrangères enseignées. Plus précisément, il vise à enregistrer les facteurs qui influencent le choix de la langue étrangère dans un échantillon d'élèves des écoles primaires et secondaires de la région de l'Attique qui ont participé à l'enquête, ainsi qu'à mettre en évidence leurs stéréotypes. Elle examine, entre autres, leurs perceptions des langues étrangères fortes et faibles, les raisons qui déterminent le choix de la langue et étudie leur éventuel désir d'élargir les choix institutionnels proposés en matière d'apprentissage des langues étrangères. Les résultats font partie d'une recherche empirique menée dans le cadre de ma thèse de doctorat et s'appuient sur des données quantitatives et qualitatives recueillies à l'aide de questionnaires remplis en classe. L'objectif de la présente étude est de contribuer à l'exploration des besoins et des attentes des élèves concernant les langues étrangères enseignées dans le système éducatif grec, d'évaluer l'efficacité des politiques linguistiques publiques existantes en matière d'enseignement des langues étrangères dans les établissements d'enseignement primaire et secondaire, et de présenter des propositions d'amélioration visant à renforcer la diversité linguistique et à promouvoir l'égalité des chances en matière d'apprentissage des langues étrangères dans le cadre scolaire. Il est estimé que le choix des langues étrangères enseignées en fonction des préférences et des intérêts personnels des élèves, ainsi que la possibilité de choisir parmi un large éventail de langues fortes ou faibles, est légitime et reflète les tendances et les besoins actuels de la société. Enfin, en promouvant l'idée de l'égalité de traitement des langues étrangères, on souhaite contribuer à la déconstruction des stéréotypes existants concernant les langues étrangères « fortes » et « faibles » langues étrangères et de renforcer l'idée d'égalité entre les langues. This article focuses on investigating the sociolinguistic representations and preferences of Greek public school students regarding the foreign languages taught. Specifically, it aims to record the factors that influence the choice of foreign language in a sample of primary and secondary school students in the Attica region who participated in the survey, as well as to capture their established stereotypes. Among other things, it examines their perceptions of strong and weak foreign languages, the reasons that determine their choice of language, and studies their possible desire to expand the institutional options offered for learning foreign languages. The results are part of empirical research conducted as part of my doctoral dissertation and are based on quantitative and qualitative data collected through questionnaires completed in school classrooms. The aim of this study is to contribute to the investigation of the needs and expectations of students regarding the foreign languages offered by the Greek education system, to assess the effectiveness of existing state language policies regarding the teaching of foreign languages in primary and secondary education institutions, and to present recommendations for improvement aimed at promoting linguistic diversity and equal opportunities in foreign language learning within the school context. language diversity and promote equal opportunities in foreign language learning within the school context. It is considered that the choice of foreign languages taught should be based on the personal preferences and interests of students, as well as the possibility of choosing from a wide range of strong or weak languages, is legitimate and reflects contemporary trends and needs in society.
